Beginning in the middle
My first post on Substack
Who am I?
I am a pulmonary and critical care physician, meaning I work in the ICU and take care of people with lung disease. I am also a husband and father of four. I have a longstanding interest narrative medicine as a means to process the experiences we have as health professionals, patients, and family members.
Why this, why now?
My wife is an excellent writer and I have watched her grow a Substack community. Physicians are not immune from the world. I am in the middle of some health issues myself and processing much of it through writing. Substack seems like a great place to build a community around this experience.
What am I hoping for?
I want to connect to others interested in narrative medicine, from the perspectives of heath professionals, patients, and family members. I hope to engage with and learn from others, strengthening my storytelling in the process.
What can you expect from me?
I plan to post once a week to start, and I am interested in feedback.
